Thank you so much to Rossington Wheelers Cycling Club who have raised an amazing total of £5498 — enough to fund two days of research at one of the Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence!
As the new day dawned at 5:45 on 12th July, 24 riders embarked on a charity ride to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research. Their destination was Flamborough Head… and then back to Rossington; a total of 178 miles in a target time of 11 hours in the saddle!
The team reported that the outward journey was a breeze, literally, with a welcome tail wind. Unfortunately, the downside of this was a headwind all the way home, making for a really tough ride as the heat of the day increased and riders’ legs felt heavy. The team worked together, sheltered, supported and protected one another, ate ice cream and other amazing athlete’s foods and made it back to base averaging an incredible speed of 16.5 mph.
They were supported by family and friends, the drivers on the day, Hudson Cycles, Continental Tyres and High Five Nutrition for their equipment support.
