John Bercow leads the way again and takes on the ‘Conquer it Together’ Marathon Sport Challenge
Posted on 8th October 2012 by Sue in Fundraising
We are ever grateful to our patron John Bercow, The Speaker of the House of Commons, for the support that he has given to the brain tumour cause since 2004. He is going one step further now and leading the way with our new autumn campaign ‘Conquer it Together’ and challenging himself to swim 5,000 metres.
Please could you give support to John by visiting his JustGiving page, asking your MP to support him and sharing this with your own contacts.
John says: I was alerted to the plight of people diagnosed with brain tumours back in 2004 by a constituent and led the first ever adjournment debate on brain tumours in the House of Commons. It was a shock to learn that more children and people under 40 die of a brain tumour than from any other cancer. Since 2004 I have been involved with brain tumour charity, Ali’s Dream and, from 2009, also with Brain Tumour Research.
Brain Tumour Research is holding a Marathon Sport Challenge in Buckingham on 13th October and I have been training for my swimming challenge. My goal is to swim 5000 metres. It would be great if you could help raise much needed funds for this very deserving cause. I shall be most grateful if you can spare a couple of minutes to sponsor me via my Just Giving page: www.justgiving.com/John-Bercow1
Every penny raised will go towards building Brain Tumour Research’s new Centre of Hope, a £1 million centre dedicated to brain tumour research, which will give hope to the thousands of people diagnosed with a brain tumour each year and their families.
As they say ‘Every Little helps’ and your support would send a huge message of hope to the thousands of people diagnosed with a brain tumour each year and their families
Yours in Hope
